All addictive behaviour is repetitive and self-defeating. Belonging to a support group of fellow addicts is part of the power of the twelve step program, far better than trying to do it alone. Being part of a group of people each working to overcome the power of their Inner matriarch provides a a powerful boost to self awareness.
